What: The lemon tree is thought to have originated in Asia, first cultivated in Europe in Genoa in the middle of the 15th century, and introduced to Americas in 1493 when Christopher Columbus brought lemon seeds along on his voyages (Wiki). Lemon oil contains antiseptic, astringent and detoxifying properties and is effective in treating acne and oily skin, as well as brightening dull skin.
Origin: Lemon rinds are cold-pressed to extract the lemon oil. It takes approximately three thousand lemon rinds to extract one kilo of oil(Herbs 2000).
