Lavera and Lavera Customers Adopt
15 Acres of Brazilian Rainforest

KIRKLAND, WASHINGTON -- During Earth Day week, Lavera pledged to donate 5% of its online sales made that week to help conserve rainforest, thus protecting endangered species and habitat for our future generations. As a result, Lavera customers helped conserve 15 acres (over 650,000 square feet) of Brazilian Rainforest with a donate to the Rainforest Alliance's Adopt-A-Rainforest campaign.

"We are thrilled to be able to give back to the environment and are very happy to see such enthusiastic support from our customers," says Ulrike Jacob, CEO of Lavera Skin Care. "Lavera and its customers feel very strongly about issues such as the Environment and Breast Cancer. We will continue to support these issues by continuing to provide products that are both safe for our customers and the environment, and by contributing to causes that our customers and Lavera feel strongly about."

Lavera and Customers Save Rainforests

According to the Rainforest Alliance, "The largest and most widely known rainforest in the world, the Amazon rainforest is abundant in both biological and cultural diversity. Unfortunately, each year millions of acres of rainforest are lost to logging to create space for farms, provide timber to national and international markets and to search for gold and precious stones. More than 15 million people inhabit the Amazon basin, all of them needing to earn enough money to support themselves and their families. The resulting unemployment and poverty lead many of these rural families to resort to logging, mining or ranching for income. Our Brazilian partner, IMAFLORA, is working with the municipal government of Boa Vista do Ramos in Amazonas and community members to develop sustainable economic alternatives to illegal logging, mining and hunting activities. Together they have developed a plan for developing sustainable forestry operations that allow villagers to cut a limited number of trees while conserving the rest of the forest. Your donation will help to support IMAFLORA to continue to provide incentives for local people to find alternative source of income by developing new businesses, such as ecotourism and gathering non-timber forest products to sell, which will leave the Amazon forests standing."
