Dull, lifeless hair

Why does hair sometimes look dull and lifeless?

Some of these factors can cause hair to lose some of its ability to store moisture. As a result, the hair becomes prone to breakage and looks brittle. The stress we put on our hair can damage the outer cuticle layer. When this happens, the hair no longer reflects light and looks dull and lifeless. Another undesirable side effect of this damage is that it makes the hair difficult to comb and style.

Care tips

  • Don't colour-treat your hair too often. Frequent bleaching will leave your hair dry and brittle.
  • After shampooing, make sure you rinse your hair thoroughly. As a little test to make sure you've rinsed properly, carefully run your fingers through your hair after rinsing. If your hair 'squeaks', the residue is gone! The following rule of thumb is also easy to remember: It should take five times as long to rinse your hair as it did to lather it.
  • And this technique takes some getting used to, but it pays off: Briefly rinse your hair with cold water after washing. This will close the outer cuticle layer, leaving your hair radiant and shiny.
  • Don't underestimate the impact of hard water! Lime residue can build up in your hair and weigh it down. To eliminate hard water buildup in your hair, mix a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice with a litre of cool water and rinse your hair with the mixture after washing.

Organic mallow flowers & pearl extract – our shining stars for dull, lifeless hair

Our organic mallow extract smooths out the structure of the hair, leaving it soft and silky. International star: Mallow is a flowering plant in the Malvaceae family, which can be found throughout Eurasia and North Africa.

Pure pearl extracts in the new lavera Shine & Volume product line revitalise your hair and leave it radiant and shiny. Did you know? No one is entirely sure of the circumstances that come together to create pearls in the natural world. People used to think that a grain of sand that found its way into an oyster would trigger the creation of a pearl, but the majority of modern scientists reject that theory.

  • Make sure you eat a diet rich in vitamins: Ideally, you should consume five portions of fruit and vegetables per day, as well as nuts, whole-grain foods and healthy oils.
  • Use conditioner regularly. lavera conditioners create a protective seal around the cuticle of the hair. This makes the hair smoother and allows it to reflect more light, making it appear shiny and radiant. One beneficial side effect: Your hair loses less moisture and is less prone to breakage.
  • Get your hair trimmed regularly to prevent split ends.
  • Products with nourishing organic plant extracts such as organic mallow extract smooth out the structure of your hair, leaving it soft and silky: lavera Shine & Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.
