A fresher, smoother and healthier looking complexion? The mystery of hyaluronic acid!

The popular super ingredient hyaluronic acid is a true fountain of youth for skin over 30 years old, and for years it has been used in anti-ageing care products. But what exactly is hyaluronic acid and how does it work on and under our skin?

Fortunately, young and fresh-looking facial skin is not just a matter of genes, but also the result of good care. The ageing process can be delayed if we apply high-quality care ingredients such as hyaluronic acid to the skin externally. In day and night creams, it penetrates the skin daily and helps to fill the spaces between collagen fibres with liquid, padding out early wrinkles, reducing the depth of wrinkles and bringing radiance back into the complexion. For an extra portion of moisture, hyaluronic acid is also available in serums and masks. Together with karanja oil and white organic tea, lavera’s “tautening series” formula keeps facial skin soft and flexible and provides added protection from free radicals. At lavera, we produce hyaluronic acid with the help of wheat-based microorganisms, and therefore our product is absolutely vegan.

Hyaluronic acid is actually a natural component of our body, occurring in joints, cartilage and connective tissue. It is a jelly-like, transparent liquid that works under the skin to create water deposits that provide the skin with sufficient moisture and keep it looking healthy, firm and fresh. Remarkably, just one gram of hyaluronic acid has the capacity to bind up to 6 litres of water. As well as moisturisation of our skin, the hyaluronic acid also helps cell renewal, keeps connective tissue elastic and protects from harmful environmental influences. From 25 years of age, when the ageing process slowly begins, the body’s own production of hyaluronic acid gradually reduces. From the age of 30 onwards, you can usually detect the first signs of skin ageing and changes such as a sallow complexion and slight facial wrinkles. Over the years, the skin also becomes dryer, thinner and loses elasticity, and deeper wrinkles develop.

Care routine for best effect

Preliminary skin care can improve the outcome of hyaluronic acid treatment, as the super ingredient penetrates deepest into skin that has been thoroughly cleansed. For best results, dirt should be thoroughly removed with a cleansing milk suited to your skin type or a cleansing gel. Cleansing with an exfoliating scrub, applied once or twice a week, is also recommended to remove dead skin cells, microbes and dirt right down to the pores. After washing off the cleansing products, dry your face with a clean towel (change every second day).

Now your skin is perfectly prepared for the following treatment, and the active ingredients will penetrate even deeper into the layers of your skin!
