Some people prefer the refreshing, wet wake-up call of a morning shower, while others like to shower in the evening and enjoy their personal care ritual after an active day. But how often should you actually shower? And how can you make the most of your personal time out? We’ll share some tips on how to optimize your shower routine—whether in the morning or evening.
It’s different for dry and sensitive skin. Here, you need to adjust your shower routine accordingly. Showering causes your skin to lose valuable moisture. To avoid stressing your delicate skin, it’s enough to shower only every other day. On the other days, you can clean the relevant body areas with a washcloth and a mild cleansing lotion.
When showering and washing, it’s best to use a cleansing product with moisturizing care ingredients and mild surfactants. Afterwards, a nourishing body lotion provides valuable moisture that your skin has lost through cleansing.
In addition, the season also plays an important role. On hot summer days, a quick shower gives your body and soul new energy and a refreshing boost. Sometimes we even enjoy this cool-down twice a day. On cold winter days, however, a relaxing, long wellness bath occasionally replaces the short shower session.
How to find the right temperature when showering
Are you wondering what temperature is ideal for your personal shower routine? If you like it refreshingly cool, you should be careful not to shower too cold, especially in summer. Otherwise, you achieve the opposite of the desired effect: your skin heats up again much faster after the shower. Lukewarm water is much better for this. It’s different with contrast showers: here, the cool phase can be quite cold to really get your skin circulation going.
Do you love warm water? There are also some things to consider here. Water that is too hot strips your skin of valuable fats and stresses your skin’s protective barrier. Temperatures above 42 degrees are not recommended. Lukewarm water around 35 degrees is ideal here as well, as it opens your pores without drying out your skin.
