What are peptides and why do we use them?

The building blocks of peptides are amino acids. Peptide chains, in turn, form the subunits of proteins. While proteins consist of long amino acid chains, peptides are much shorter and therefore particularly versatile and effective. Tripeptides, like those we use in our Skin Longevity series, consist of three connected amino acids and play a central role in the skin's metabolism. They signal the body to activate the skin's own repair mechanism. In our Skin Longevity series, we use three effective tri- & hexapeptides: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, and Hexapeptide-11.

How peptides work in the skin

Peptides act as messengers. They can stimulate our skin to produce collagen. Collagen is important for the firmness and elasticity of the skin and can contribute to skin tightening.

The three power peptides in detail

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 consists of the three amino acids glycine, histidine, and lysine, combined with palmitic acid. Scientific studies show that it can increase collagen synthesis.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 is made up of lysine, valine, and lysine combined with palmitic acid. It specifically stimulates collagen synthesis, can tighten the skin, and reduce wrinkles.

Hexapeptide-11 consists of six amino acids and promotes collagen and elastin production. It can improve skin elasticity, support skin renewal, and smooth the skin texture.
