In the farthest corners of your bathroom…
… are there some products hiding that you never use and that have been sitting there for a while? Then it’s time to take a look at the expiration date! Take a moment to tidy up your bathroom. A messy bathroom not only disrupts your daily beauty rituals – you also lose track of which products work for you and how long some have been unused on the shelf. As long as the products are still good, you could, for example, give them to a friend instead of throwing them away.
How to tell if a product has expired
When sorting out, you should check the shelf life of all your products – because cosmetics can expire too. Most products are good for 6 to 12 months after opening. At lavera Natural Beauty, we indicate shelf lives in two ways.
PAO – Period After Opening
The "Period After Opening" shows you how long you can use a product after opening it. For lavera make-up, you will find a jar symbol with a number. This number tells you how many months you can still use the product after opening it.
Best Before Date – The Minimum Shelf Life
Some packaging shows you exactly how long the product is good for. Here you will find a best-before date (BBD). It tells you by when you should have used up the product. Look for an embossing – on lavera tubes you will usually find it near the top edge. After opening, you should use the product within 6 to 8 months.
Pro tip
Use a marker pen to write the opening date on the bottom of the packaging. This way, you keep track and play it safe. A practical side effect: you can see how long it takes you to use up a product completely. This helps you plan your next purchases and avoids waste.
Your light summer routine with Hydro refresh

If you wear sunscreen daily, remove it thoroughly in the evening – preferably in two steps: first a cleansing gel or cleansing milk, then a gentle cleanse with, for example, micellar water.
