Cocoa butter is an important plant ingredient in certified Natural Beauty for soothing and caring for dry skin. It is a true skin pamperer because it absorbs particularly easily and quickly into your skin, leaving a soft and smooth skin feeling. In the lavera care world, it stands for gentle skin soothing and valuable care.
Tropical beauty with year-round harvest
The cocoa tree bears the botanical name "Theobroma Cacao" and is primarily native to West Africa, Brazil, Java, and the Philippines. It belongs to the mallow family subfamily and can grow up to 15 meters tall. In its tropical homeland, the cocoa tree grows in the shade of larger trees and forms a dense crown of dark green, glossy leaves that renew up to four times a year. Particularly fascinating: The flowers emerge directly from the trunk (this is called "cauliflory" in technical terms) and shortly afterward produce large yellow to reddish-brown fruits that carry the valuable cocoa seeds. The pale yellow, solid cocoa butter is obtained by gentle cold pressing of the bean-shaped seeds (cocoa beans). The special thing: A cocoa tree blooms and bears fruit all year round.
Cocoa love for your skin
The beauty secret of the tropical bean: Its precious fat has a skin-close melting point (around 30 degrees Celsius) and can therefore be absorbed particularly well by your skin. Cocoa butter contains palmitic, stearic, and oleic acids, which quickly penetrate your skin and leave a delicate, non-greasy protective film.
As a result, the high-quality plant oil has a replenishing effect and is especially suitable for dry and stressed skin, but is also well tolerated by normal skin as it does not feel too heavy.
