FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question about the products?
The most frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers have been provided by lavera Natural Beauty in various categories for you.
Ingredients
What are the lavera fragrances made of?
lavera Natural Beauty uses exclusively natural oils, extracts, or hydrolates for each fragrance composition. Essential oils are substances that directly affect the human body and are obtained through pressing, extraction, or distillation.
Our tip: In our consultation section on our website, we introduce you to our fragrance worlds and explain in detail what makes lavera fragrances special.
How does lavera's triple-action hyaluronic acid work?
The natural, triple-action hyaluronic acid used in some lavera products contains molecules in three different sizes. The so-called high-, medium-, and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acids can optimally hydrate your skin in its different layers. Did you know?
The different molecule sizes provide different effects: 1. High-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid forms a protective film on the epidermis and prevents water loss from the skin surface – your skin’s moisture is preserved.
2. Medium-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid penetrates the epidermis. It can improve skin moisture and reduce wrinkle depth.
3. Low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid can penetrate into the dermis (the so-called “leather skin”). There, it helps to store water in the connective tissue of the skin and plump it from within. Did you know that hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in your body? As a natural component of your connective tissue, it supports the collagen and elastin fibers in your skin. Similar to how a sponge soaks up water, one gram of hyaluronic acid can bind a large amount of water. With the help of our natural hyaluronic acid, your skin can absorb and retain more moisture. This plumps it from the inside out and smooths fine lines. Our tip: If you want to learn more about our natural hyaluronic acid, visit the corresponding ingredient page.
What are fatty alcohols?
Fatty alcohol is a component of natural fats and oils. Fatty alcohols are waxy, solid substances. lavera uses various plant-based fatty alcohols that comply with the guidelines for certified Natural Beauty as natural emulsifiers or consistency agents in emulsions.
Does alcohol dry out the skin?
We can reassure you: Our products are designed so that the alcohol they contain can optimally fulfill its respective function without stressing your skin too much. In our natural care products, alcohol is used, among other things, as an extraction agent for the high-quality plant ingredients and does not impair their care properties.
Is the coconut surfactant used in lavera (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate) comparable to the flavor enhancer glutamate?
Both substances are related to the natural amino acid glutamic acid. This acid is found in almost all proteins in our food and is used by the human body for protein synthesis.
The flavor enhancer is properly called monosodium glutamate (abbreviated as glutamate) and is the monosodium salt of glutamic acid. Sodium glutamate is mainly used for the industrial production of soups, meat, fish, and vegetable canned goods as well as seasonings, and can cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals or when consumed in large amounts (the so-called Chinese restaurant syndrome). The coconut surfactant we use (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate) is not comparable in its mode of action to the monosodium glutamate described above. It is produced as follows: sodium glutamate obtained by fermentation from sugar is esterified with coconut oil. This results in a very mild surfactant, which in its properties has nothing to do with the flavor enhancer “glutamate.”
We use the coconut surfactant (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate) in cleansing, shower, and washing gels as well as toothpastes due to its very good foaming properties.
Which peeling components does lavera use?
At lavera Natural Beauty, only alternative, natural ingredients are used – and that has been the case from the very beginning. For our peeling products, we use only peeling particles of natural origin.
Depending on the product, we rely on different peeling components:
Silica & jojoba wax beads are currently used in our Pure Beauty 3in1 Cleansing Peeling Mask. The silica (hydrated silica, an important trace element) as well as the colored jojoba wax beads (INCI: “Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil") care for the skin while providing a gentle peeling. They deeply cleanse the skin and prepare it optimally for the following care products.
Organic coffee & natural AHA fruit acids are the peeling components of our new shower peeling “Purify Me", which will be available from March 1st.
For those who prefer a peeling without any particles, our Liquid Refiner offers a gentle, liquid alternative – they care for and refine the skin texture without mechanical peeling particles.
Did you know? Microplastics are not allowed in NATRUE-certified Natural Beauty products – nor are any other plastics or petroleum-based ingredients.
Our tip: We have summarized everything you need to know and many details about our peeling ingredients on the corresponding ingredient pages for you.
Where does the ingredient natural salicylic acid come from?
The natural salicylic acid used in our Pure Beauty products is derived from the low wintergreen, also called "Wintergreen." As a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA), this plant-based ingredient clarifies the skin and has antibacterial properties. Natural salicylic acid can effectively free your skin from impurities and help prevent their recurrence.

What is plant-based keratin made of?
Plant-based keratin consists of hydrolyzed corn protein, hydrolyzed wheat protein, and hydrolyzed soy protein. These ingredients are known for their hair-protecting properties and can penetrate deeply into your hair. Plant-based keratins can strengthen your hair, improve combability, and provide a smooth hair feel.
Our tip: In our Advice section, we tell you more about this ingredient and reveal which products contain it.
Do lavera products contain microplastics?
As a manufacturer of certified Natural Beauty, lavera avoids the use of microplastics in all formulations. Instead, we rely from the start on alternative, natural peeling components – varying depending on the product:
Silica & jojoba wax beads provide a gentle, natural removal of dead skin cells in the Pure Beauty 3in1 cleansing-peeling mask.
Organic coffee & natural AHA fruit acids are the peeling components in the new shower scrub “Purify Me".
For those who prefer a peeling without granules, our Liquid Refiner offers a gentle, liquid alternative – effective and without mechanical peeling particles.
Did you know? The use of microplastics as well as other plastics is not permitted for NATRUE- and Ecocert-certified Natural Beauty products. These labels therefore indicate that the respective product contains no microplastics.
What is special about natural surfactants?
Our natural surfactants are used in lavera care showers, cream showers, and other cleansing products. These are surfactants modeled after nature, precisely balanced in our formulations. They are made from sugar and amino acids and are gentle on your skin’s flora – they cleanse your skin gently and thoroughly at the same time. The delicate foam provides a pleasant washing experience. Our natural surfactants are based on renewable raw materials and are biodegradable.
By the way: You can find our natural surfactants in the ingredients list under the names Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Coco-Sulfate, and Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate.
What is lavera Silica used for?
Silica is a natural mineral obtained from quartz sand. Silica is used instead of microplastics as a natural cleansing agent in toothpastes or as a light-reflecting mineral in our decorative cosmetics.
Do lavera care products contain emulsifiers?
We do not use any synthetic emulsifiers in our products. Instead, we use multifunctional natural ingredients that, among other things, take on the emulsifying function to achieve a consistent texture in our emulsions (e.g., body lotions, face creams).
Why is alcohol used in some lavera products?
When used in the right amounts, alcohol plays important roles in lavera natural cosmetic products. We take advantage of these beneficial properties in clever, skin-friendly formulations. Alcohol is used in our products, among other things, as
... an indispensable extraction agent: Alcohol helps extract active and ingredient substances from plants
... a carrier for active ingredients: Some ingredients (e.g., vitamins) can penetrate the skin better when dissolved in alcohol molecules
... an antimicrobial ingredient that contributes to the product’s shelf life
... an ingredient for a light, refreshed skin feeling
Did you know? For our products, we use organic alcohol obtained through fermentation from controlled organic plants. This is alcohol that must be rendered undrinkable or denatured for legal reasons. For denaturing, we use only natural or nature-identical substances (for example, essential oils).
By the way: Replenishing ingredients can balance out the drying effect of alcohol. That’s why we ensure a perfect interplay of all ingredients in every formulation – the best for you and your skin!
What can the ingredient Vitamin C do?
The ingredient Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is considered an important antioxidant and can help protect your skin from harmful oxidation processes. Additionally, Vitamin C plays a crucial role in collagen production, which is essential for the formation of firm and stable collagen fibers.
Vitamin C in our products: In selected products, we use the high-quality Vitamin C derivatives ascorbyl glucoside (water-soluble) and ascorbyl palmitate (oil-soluble). These two ingredients can help firm and maintain skin elasticity and protect your skin from oxidative damage. Would you like to learn more about this exciting ingredient? Facial care
Are the products for blemished skin also suitable for adult skin?
Yes, the lavera Pure Beauty facial care series is also suitable for impure adult skin. For a care routine for combination skin and impurities, a combination of clarifying and moisturizing products is advisable. The lavera Pure Beauty products ensure a clear, even complexion. Did you know? Causes of impure or combination skin between the ages of about 20 to 40 can be hormonal fluctuations, environmental stressors (such as UV rays, fine dust), stress, or genetic predisposition. Our tip: We recommend that you stick to the care your skin tolerates well. Constantly switching between different care products can stress impure skin even more. Discover our Pure Beauty series for impure skin.
Can I combine lavera facial care products well with each other?
Yes, definitely, lavera facial care products can be well combined. We often provide you with a day and a night care product within our facial care series. Of course, you can also switch between the different series depending on your skin's needs. Discover our facial care products.
Why should an eye cream be gently tapped into the skin?
Patting in eye cream – a beauty trick you’ve probably read about quite often. In our application tips, we also repeatedly emphasize that the refreshing and nourishing lavera eye creams should be gently patted into the skin.
The high-quality formulas of our eye creams, certified natural cosmetics, are specially designed for the particularly delicate and thin skin around the eyes. Some of them can stimulate microcirculation thanks to their special formula, thus achieving a decongestant effect. For especially effective application, you should gently pat the lavera eye creams into the skin (preferably from the outside in). Discover our eye care products.
How do I use a serum?
Ideally, you should apply your lavera serum AFTER thoroughly cleansing your face and BEFORE your favorite day or night cream. The reason: On fresh, cleansed skin, the small, highly concentrated active ingredient molecules of the serum can penetrate your skin more easily. Depending on your skin’s care needs, you can apply our serums daily or several times a week.
By the way: The fast-absorbing lavera serums are also perfect as a makeup base, as their light textures provide moisture and care without feeling greasy.
Our tips: For a refreshed skin feeling, gently pat the lavera serum around your eyes. Have you heard of "Face Mapping"? With this beauty method, you combine several serums for different care effects. Apply your serums spotwise to specific areas of the skin to target local "problem zones" like pigmentation spots or fine lines around the eyes. If you like, you can also apply your lavera serum to your neck and décolleté – because not only your facial skin loves to be pampered!
Tips for your facial care routine with serums: Thoroughly cleanse your facial skin with a refreshing cleansing gel, a mild cleansing milk, and a skin-type-appropriate toner. Apply your lavera serum in circular motions to your entire face or just to specific areas and gently massage it in. Wait a moment until the serum is fully absorbed. Then apply your usual day or night cream. Discover our serums.
Should I use all the products from the Re-Energizing Sleeping series together, and if so, in what order?
You can combine the products from our Re-Energizing Sleeping series as you like and according to your skin’s age. The three products Oil Elixir, Eye Cream, and Sleeping Cream are coordinated in a skincare routine. To provide your skin with the best possible care using our valuable night treatment, you can follow this order:
Step 1: Cleansing
Step 2: Re-Energizing Sleeping Oil Elixir (especially soothing with a relaxing facial massage!)
Step 3: Re-Energizing Sleeping Cream
Step 4: Re-Energizing Sleeping Eye Care
Can I also use the lavera night care during the day?
Our night care products have been specially developed for the nighttime regeneration of your skin. These products are less suitable as day care. Our rich night care formulas do not absorb as quickly as light moisturizers or fluids. Therefore, they are less suitable as a makeup base in the morning.
Did you know? Some ingredients in our night care products, such as certain fruit acids, should actually only be used at night because they can make your skin more sensitive to UV rays. Therefore, you should use our night care products in the evening.
Our tip: If you have a lot of time for your evening routine, why not make it a beauty night! In our magazine, we reveal everything you need for your beauty evening!
Can I also use the Re-Energizing Sleeping Oil Elixir on blemished skin?
Are you curious about our Re-Energizing Sleeping Oil Elixir but unsure if you can use the product on blemished or combination skin? We can reassure you. Our oil elixir with organic grape and vitamin E is suitable for all skin types. To explain: facial oils signal to your skin that it needs to produce less oil itself because it is already receiving enough oil from the outside. Therefore, facial oils or rich serums and beauty elixirs are also well tolerated on blemished skin.
Did you know? Our Re-Energizing Sleeping Cream and the matching eye cream are also suitable for all skin types.
Can I also use my lavera body lotion on my face?
In principle, you can also use your lavera body lotion for the face. However, the formulations of our body lotions have been developed for the needs of the body. Facial skin generally has different care requirements, so we recommend a special facial care product tailored to your individual skin type.
What is a facial spray and what is it good for?
A facial spray is a skincare product in a spray bottle. Whether at home in the bathroom, at the office, or on the beach – the beauty booster on the go is always at hand and gives your skin the perfect freshness boost at the push of a button. Most facial sprays also contain valuable skin-caring ingredients. In our lavera Hydro Refresh facial care spray, organic algae extract and natural hyaluronic acids enrich the fine mist and provide the skin with an extra dose of moisture. The result: a radiant complexion and a pleasantly refreshed and relaxed skin feeling. Whether as a regular part of your skincare routine or as a refreshment on the go – a facial spray is a care your skin will love.
Our tip: Put the facial spray in the fridge for even more freshness.
What exactly is "Face Mapping"?
With this beauty method, you combine several serums for different care effects. Apply your serums spotwise to individual areas of the skin to specifically treat local "problem areas" such as pigmentation spots or small wrinkles around the eyes.
Why should I use a facial toner?
Whether you have sensitive or oily skin – a facial toner, also called a toner, should simply not be missing from your daily facial care routine! In your daily facial cleansing, lavera facial toners belong to the 2nd care step (clarifying and preparing) after using an invigorating wash gel or a mild cleansing milk, which is effective in two phases.
In phase 1, it ensures an especially thorough cleansing, as it can remove the last traces of your cleansing product as well as any loose skin flakes.
In phase 2, a facial toner optimally prepares your skin for the subsequent care, provides soothing freshness, and gives a gentle skin feeling. The valuable ingredients of the following lavera facial care products can thus penetrate your skin even better. Did you know? Applying a facial toner leaves a refreshing residual moisture on your face. This ensures that your lavera facial care product spreads more easily.
Our tip: Every skin is different. Your daily facial cleansing should also be adapted to your individual skin type. In our skin type consultation, we give you helpful beauty tips for your very own facial cleansing routine.
What are micelles and what exactly is their function?
They have become indispensable in the world of facial cleansing over the past few years: micelles. This sophisticated technology allows you to cleanse your face gently yet effectively and ensures an ideal cleansing finish. Would you like to see for yourself the little miracle particles? We also use them in our facial toners in certified natural cosmetic quality.
What are micelles?
Micelles are tiny cleansing molecules that have two “arms” – one water-loving and one fat-loving part. These molecules tend to form a sphere. They do this by capturing or surrounding dirt particles or makeup residues – they attract them like a magnet and thus remove the dirt from your skin. And the best part: they are very well tolerated. Unlike water and soap, which only remove dirt from the surface and can also attack your skin’s delicate acid mantle, micelle-based facial toners gently remove external impurities.
Can I also remove waterproof makeup with the Natural Beauty cleansing products?
Selected gentle cleansing products contain oil-based ingredients that gently remove waterproof makeup.
Can lavera facial toners refine my pores?
Yes, lavera facial toners contain astringent ingredients (from the Latin “a(d)stringere,” meaning to contract) that help refine pores. We use watery alcoholic fruit and plant extracts in our toners. These ingredients can clarify your skin while simultaneously refining your pores. But our facial toners can do even more: Did you know that a facial toner used as a finish after cleansing provides the perfect base for our day or night creams? Often, the skin is still slightly damp after cleansing, allowing the high-quality active ingredients to be absorbed even better by your skin.
Our tip: Want to know which toners are suitable for your individual skin type? On our advice pages, we offer helpful beauty tips for your very own facial cleansing routine.

How often should I apply the lavera hand creams?
That depends on your individual skin type and the current season. One thing is certain: a hand cream is good for every skin type because the hands have only a small number of sebaceous glands. This means that stressed and strained hands cannot be properly protected. So, to keep your hands naturally beautiful, a little help from the outside is needed!
Dry skin types lack both moisture and fat. This condition can quickly worsen on the hands because they are exposed to many external influences every day. For dry skin, we recommend a short cream ritual with your lavera hand cream after every hand wash (and in between if needed). Don’t forget your cuticles – they can easily crack with dry skin.
Mature skin also often tends to be dry. This is because sebum and sweat production decrease significantly with age, and the skin also becomes thinner. To ensure the hands are well cared for even in old age, they should be protected several times a day with a rich hand cream.
Normal skin often withstands external influences very well because the acid mantle is intact. But even this skin type appreciates a light, fast-absorbing moisturizer, which should be part of your care routine once a day.
Especially in the cold season, skin protection should be maintained with the help of naturally caring hand creams. In winter, the skin is drier due to the cold air than in the warm months. Heating air also has a huge impact: it can draw valuable moisture from your skin. To prevent rough skin and small cracks, you should apply a rich hand cream several times a day. But even on warm summer days, your hands will appreciate a daily hand care routine. Because sun rays, saltwater, and dry air can also dry out and stress your skin. For naturally beautiful hands in summer, light formulas that absorb quickly and provide valuable moisture are ideal.
Our tip: Beauty tutoring for naturally beautiful hands – find out in our magazine how to properly apply cream to your hands and pamper them with a little extra care.
What are the benefits of the solid lavera shampoos and showers?
lavera’s solid shampoos and shower gels offer you and our environment many advantages over liquid products.
Natural hair care: The solid lavera shampoos provide your hair with care and gentle cleansing thanks to special active formulas with amino acids and organic quinoa. Both the solid shampoos and solid shower gels give you an intense fragrance experience and a soft, creamy foam created by the use of surfactants of natural origin.
0% plastic: We focus on sustainability in the packaging of our solid shampoos and shower gels. The new solid shower gels from lavera come without plastic packaging. We also avoid microplastics in our formulas.
Long “lifespan”: Depending on your usage habits, our solid shower gels and shampoos last up to three times longer than liquid products.
Simply practical: Thanks to their compact shape, you can easily carry our solid care products, and they won’t leak on the go. Especially practical is our sustainable Shampoo & Shower Box made from 100% recycled material, available separately in stores or in our online shop at www.lavera.de. The box is ideal for storing your solid lavera product at home in the shower.
Low-energy production: Our solid shower gels and shampoos are made from powdered, pressed, and water-reduced raw materials. They are produced and packaged without an energy-intensive drying process.
How do I properly use the solid lavera shampoos and shower gels?
Hold your solid lavera shampoo or shower gel under warm water and work the product into a good lather in your hands. Massage the foam into your wet hair. For the solid shower gel, spread the gentle foam over your wet skin. Then rinse it off thoroughly. After use, you should let the solid lavera products air dry. For hygienic storage, our practical Shampoo & Shower Box made of bamboo cellulose is ideal.
How long-lasting are the solid lavera products compared to liquid products?
Our solid care shampoos are up to 3 times more efficient than liquid shampoo, depending on hair length and usage habits. Our solid shower gels are also up to 3 times more efficient than liquid shower gel, depending on usage habits. With our solid shampoos and shower gels, you save plastic and space in your bathroom and do something good for yourself and the environment.
Why do brown spots appear on the surface of the solid lavera Happy Freshness shower care?
Natural raw materials can change their color over time. We often see this process in nature, for example with flowers or different types of wood. Natural ingredients in our products are no exception. The brown spots on our solid products are indeed a natural color change. However, this has no impact on the quality and performance of the product – these remain unchanged.
What is the difference between a solid shampoo and a hair soap?
Solid shampoos and hair soaps differ in their respective pH values. The foam of the solid lavera shampoos has a skin-neutral pH value, which is slightly acidic. This causes the hair cuticles to close, the hair surface becomes smooth, and the hair gains wonderful softness and shine.
The foam of a hair soap, on the other hand, has a basic pH value. As a result, the hair cuticles open, making the hair appear dull and lackluster. As a remedy, it is often recommended to use an acidic rinse made of citric acid or apple cider vinegar in addition to the hair soap. The acidic pH of the rinse closes the hair cuticles again, giving the hair softness and shine. However, this requires using two products, which unnecessarily costs time and resources. Therefore, we recommend using a solid shampoo. We do not carry hair soap in our range.
How do I care for my skin with neurodermatitis?
People with neurodermatitis often have dry, red, and itchy skin with a reduced protective function. Especially in autumn and winter, cold temperatures and dry heating air can further stress this skin type. The key here is: moisturizing! You should nourish your skin with a rich, replenishing care product in the morning and evening. If needed, you can also reapply during the day.
Gentle ingredients
The rule for ingredients is: "Less is more!" We recommend avoiding fragrance, color, and synthetic preservatives in your daily skincare. This helps prevent unnecessary irritation and protects your already compromised skin barrier. Look for products with few but effective care ingredients that effectively support your skin barrier. lavera relies on replenishing ingredients like organic evening primrose oil in the medical skincare series Neutral, which provide rich care. Special lotions and creams supply your skin with fat and soothing moisture. Selected lavera Neutral products also contain valuable lecithins, which are often missing in the skin of people with neurodermatitis and support your natural skin barrier. Micro silver can also offer natural skin protection for neurodermatitis. It forms an antimicrobial protective film on stressed skin areas, helping to prevent inflammation.
Cleaning? Better with a gentle touch!
For your daily skin cleansing, it’s best to use soap-free, pH-neutral products without fragrances. If your skin barrier is disturbed or damaged, you should avoid cleansing your skin too often or too intensively. Avoid vigorous rubbing, excessive pressure, and pulling when drying your face, as this can further irritate your skin and damage the natural skin barrier. Especially in the evening, take plenty of time for care. Overnight, the valuable ingredients in the Neutral facial care products have plenty of time to absorb into your skin. A gentle, relaxing facial massage can stimulate blood circulation.
Our tip: On our advice page for dry, sensitive skin, we reveal what else you should pay attention to in your daily beauty routine.
Are there specific lavera hair care products for every hair need?
Yes, lavera offers a care solution perfectly tailored to different hair care needs and hair types.
For damaged, dry hair, for example, good combability, plenty of care, a beautiful shine, and repair of damaged hair are top priorities. Fine hair, on the other hand, needs a strengthening and building care that does not weigh the hair down unnecessarily. For colored hair, a protective care formula for natural color protection is important. For sensitive scalp, care products with soothing and calming ingredients are especially recommended.
Our tip: In our Advice section, you can read more about what else matters when caring for your individual hair type.
Which lavera body lotion is right for my skin type?
Applying lotion feels good and relaxes body and senses in a small moment of well-being. If you tailor your body lotion to your individual skin needs, you can get even more out of your daily body care routine. Skin type-specific body care with different levels of care is important so that your skin can stay balanced and remain protected despite external influences.
Normal skin
Normal skin benefits from a light body lotion for daily, quick care. Here, sufficient moisture supply is the most important care goal. Express lotions that absorb particularly quickly care for your skin and provide it with valuable moisture for many hours. The fast-absorbing lavera body lotion formulas with subtle care scents are especially gentle and provide your skin with valuable moisture.
Mature skin
Mature skin benefits from firming body care, e.g., with natural coenzyme Q10 or valuable plant extracts from organic cranberry and organic argan oil.
Our tip: Even normal skin types can suffer from dry spots on knees, elbows, or hands, especially in the cold season. In this case, we recommend using a rich all-round cream in addition to your favorite body lotion, applied to specific areas. By the way, it also keeps your delicate lip skin soft and smooth!
Dry skin
Does your skin feel very dry and tight after showering or bathing? Then your choice should be more towards rich body milks and creams, because dry and demanding skin needs significantly more care than normal skin. We recommend rich formulas that provide your arms, legs, and other body parts with moisture and fat. When choosing, look for plant-based moisturizers like organic aloe vera as well as nourishing oils like organic almond oil, organic argan oil, or organic sunflower oil. In combination with other ingredients, they can protect your skin from drying out.
Sensitive skin
If you tend to allergies or very sensitive skin, it’s best to choose a pH- and fragrance-neutral body care. Valuable and skin-soothing organic plant ingredients can help your skin stabilize the skin barrier that has gotten out of balance.
Our tip: If you suffer from particularly dry skin, you can safely apply your body cream twice a day.
How do lavera deodorants work?
We have developed unique deodorant active ingredient compositions that effectively protect against odor formation with valuable organic ingredients and natural minerals.
Our aluminum-free Natural Beauty deodorants effectively prevent unpleasant odors while not suppressing the skin's natural sweat production. Their protective effect is based on effective ingredients that can inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. By using our natural deodorant active ingredients, your pores are not clogged and your skin can breathe freely. Nourishing ingredients (e.g., zinc) soothe your underarm skin and provide a pleasant skin feeling.
Which lavera deodorants are alcohol-free?
The formulations of the lavera Natural & Strong Deo Cream, the basis sensitiv Natural & Sensitive Deo Cream, the basis sensitiv Deo Roll-On, and the Neutral Deo Roll-On are alcohol-free and, thanks to their good compatibility, are well suited for sensitive underarm skin.
Do Natural Beauty deodorants need to be applied more frequently than conventional deodorants?
No, that is not necessary, as there is no difference in effectiveness. It mainly depends on your activity: during sports or in more stressful situations, your body sweats more, and you naturally reach for your deodorant more often. In this case, you spray or roll on again to be on the safe side.
Only purely natural fragrances are used in Natural Beauty deodorants. With antiseptic, skin-soothing, and skin-balancing ingredients, lavera Natural Beauty deodorants counteract odor formation without impairing your body's natural sweating function. How often you should apply your lavera deodorant always depends on the situation you are in.
Don't forget: your sensitive underarm skin also appreciates a bit of care. In our Advice section, we share helpful beauty tips for naturally beautiful underarms.

Zinc oxide and clay can absorb moisture under the arms, and baking soda can help inhibit bacterial growth on your skin. Thanks to its particularly creamy formula, the lavera Natural & Strong deodorant cream spreads very well on your skin and absorbs quickly.
Makeup
How do I highlight accents with the lavera powder blush?
Oval face shape:
Apply the blush to the highest point of the cheekbones and blend it gently towards the temples. For this harmonious face shape, you can also softly apply the blush in a circular motion on the apples of the cheeks for a naturally fresh look.
Round face shape:
Apply the blush in a diagonal line from the cheekbones upwards towards the temples. Avoid circular application directly on the apples of the cheeks, as this makes the face appear rounder. The diagonal line visually elongates and emphasizes the contours.
Square face shape:
Apply the blush on the apples of the cheeks and blend it softly in a circular motion. Apply the blush slightly closer to the center of the face to visually soften harsh contours. Avoid sharp lines towards the temples.
What is the difference between a concealer and a cover stick?
One thing these two practical beauty helpers have in common: They are excellent for covering small pimples, redness, dark circles, and other imperfections. However, the choice of the perfect concealing product also depends on your individual skin type and beauty preferences.
Concealer
A concealer is the liquid version of the concealer stick. The light, creamy texture of the lavera Radiant Skin Concealer is especially suitable for dry skin, as selected organic plant ingredients provide your skin with extra care. The application is also ideal for sensitive skin: With the help of the practical applicator, the lavera concealer can be applied precisely and blended easily.
Our tip: Choose a shade that is one tone lighter than your complexion. By brightening, your eye area receives an optical freshness boost. The concealer can also be used anywhere you want to give your face more expression and radiant highlights. Apply the concealer to the center of the forehead, the outer corners of the eyes, above the cheekbones, and on the tip of the chin, then blend gently.
Concealer stick
A concealer stick, on the other hand, usually has a firmer consistency and is especially suitable for blemished or oily skin. It allows targeted, reliable coverage of pimples and blemishes and is ideal for on the go thanks to its compact stick form.
Which foundation is right for my skin type?
Do you wish for an even and radiant complexion? Our natural foundations are the basis for a fresh and beautiful skin appearance. Which type of foundation is best suited for you and your skin depends on your individual needs and your skin type.
Dry Skin
For dry skin, rich care before applying makeup is especially important. An intensively nourishing lavera day cream can protect your skin from drying out and also prevent the foundation from settling into dry fine lines. For this skin type, a moisturizing makeup or a tinted day cream with an extra dose of moisture is suitable.
Oily Skin & Combination Skin
Oily or combination skin tends to have shiny areas in the so-called "T-zone" (forehead, nose, and chin). In this case, a light foundation is the right choice. It does not feel too heavy on your skin and is easy to apply.
Impure Skin
Impure skin often tends to pimples and blemishes. For this skin type, a foundation with medium to full coverage is recommended, which specifically conceals blemishes without burdening the skin. Smaller blemishes can also be quickly and easily covered with a concealer stick.
Our tip: To prevent the growth of bacteria and germs, you should thoroughly wash your makeup sponges every two weeks with warm water and a mild shampoo. Then gently pat the sponge dry with a clean paper towel and let it dry well.

The lavera mascara contains essential oils - Is there also a fragrance-free mascara?
lavera mascaras contain essential oils that provide a pleasant fragrance and are formulated to be suitable for the sensitive eye area. However, for those who prefer a fragrance-free alternative, we also have the perfect choice:
Our High Lash Mascara is fragrance-free and therefore especially suitable for anyone who wants to avoid fragrances around the eyes.
How do I properly use the hourglass brush of the lavera Lash to Impress Mascara?
For voluminous lashes and optimal staying power of the Lash to Impress Mascara, hold the brush horizontally to your eye and move it from the base of your lashes to the tips with a zig-zag motion side to side.
Our tip for extra volume boost: Let the mascara dry briefly and then repeat the application.
How do I prevent lavera lipstick or lavera lip gloss from bleeding over the lip line?
lavera Lipliners are the ideal beauty helpers for your perfect lip styling. The effect is simple and effective at the same time: The lipliner forms a kind of barrier with its firm consistency and protects the color of the lavera lipstick or lip gloss from running into fine lines or smudging. At the same time, it ensures that your lavera lip styling products last longer. We use high-quality organic olive oil, which additionally cares for your lips and provides the sensitive lip skin with protection against drying out.
Our tip: Carefully trace your lip contour with the lavera Soft Lipliner. For even longer-lasting lip styling, you can also prime your lips completely with the contour pencil. Did you know that you can also easily correct your lip shape with the lavera Lipliner? Did you know? Softly cared-for lips are the basis for a naturally beautiful lip styling. Because smooth, supple lip skin makes it easier to apply lipstick and makes the colors appear more even. So treat your lips to an extra portion of care and protection in between with one of our natural lip care products.
How can I naturally enhance my lips?
Your lips look especially full and vibrant when you apply a layer of Glossy Lips over the Beautiful Lips. The shimmering accents of the lip gloss add subtle highlights to your lips and make them shine. To make your lips appear fuller, apply just a little gloss to the center of your lips.
Sun protection
How do I apply lavera sun protection products correctly?
Please note the following important application instructions:
- Shake well before use.
- Apply generously before sun exposure and reapply regularly during exposure.
- Especially after sweating and swimming, the protection should be renewed regularly.
- Keep babies and toddlers out of direct sunlight, use protective clothing and sunscreens with a high SPF.
- Even sunscreens with a high sun protection factor do not provide complete protection against UV rays.
- Avoid intense midday sun – excessive sunbathing poses a serious health risk.
- Avoid contact with eyes.
- Avoid direct contact with textiles (staining possible).
Our tip: You can find more helpful advice for responsible sun care in the Advice section on our website.
Do small children still need protective clothing despite using a sunscreen product with a high sun protection factor (from SPF 30)?
In addition to a sunscreen product with a high sun protection factor, babies and children should be protected from harmful sun radiation by protective clothing, especially on the head and upper body.
How often do lavera sun protection products need to be reapplied?
Our mineral sunscreen, unlike synthetic filters, sits on your skin and reflects UV rays like a mirror reflects light. Especially after swimming, sweating, or drying off, you should generously reapply your lavera sun protection product to maintain the protection. Please note that reapplying does not extend the product’s protection time but only maintains it. Our tip: In our Advice section, we explain how to calculate your skin’s natural protection time and provide helpful tips for responsible sun care.
What is the difference between mineral and synthetic sun protection?
The mineral sunscreen filter is developed by lavera itself. The formulations are regularly optimized and adapted to the latest scientific research. lavera sun protection products are based on zinc oxide. The principle is simple and taken from nature. Just as an elephant throws sand – that is, minerals – on its skin to protect it from UV rays, the sun protection factors lie on the skin and reflect the sun’s rays.
Synthetic sunscreens & sun filters: They contain synthetic agents such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, phenylbenzimidazoles. These bind with the skin’s oils and dissipate heat energy through the skin.
Our tip: You can find more information about mineral sun protection in our Advice section.
Is the lavera Sunscreen Lotion Sensitive Kids SPF 50 also suitable for adults?
Yes, the lavera Sensitive Kids Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 is also suitable for adult skin. The nourishing formula contains no fragrances, thus reducing the risk of sun-related skin irritations – ideal for Mallorca acne or atopic dermatitis. In general, sensitive children's skin requires especially reliable sun protection with a high SPF and more intensive skin care than adult skin. The lavera Sensitive Kids Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 intensely cares for young skin with vitamin E and organic shea butter. The visible sunscreen lotion formula allows for seamless application and spreads well on the skin.
Do lavera sun protection products leave a white cast?
No, since the revision of our sun protection products in spring 2024, you can enjoy 100% mineral sun protection with zinc oxide without any whitening effect. The mineral UV filter zinc oxide sits on the skin's surface and reflects UV radiation like a mirror, without leaving a white sheen on the skin.

What does it mean that lavera sun protection products comply with the Hawaii Reef Law?
Did you know that since January 2021, sunscreens containing the UV filters Octinoxate and Oxybenzone have been banned in Hawaii under the Hawaiian Reef Law? These synthetic UV filters are suspected not only of causing allergic reactions in people but also of harming the environment. Hawaii decided back in 2018 that these UV filters have no place on the island group's picturesque beaches as of 01.01.2021. According to the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI)1, around 14,000 tons of sunscreen end up in the oceans worldwide each year. The effects are especially noticeable on heavily visited beaches. To avoid burdening the seas with these two synthetic UV filters, we recommend sunscreens with mineral-based sun protection. For the sake of the environment, our sunscreens have used purely mineral UV filters for more than 30 years now. This makes them compliant with the Hawaiian Reef Law. Our tip: Learn more about our mineral sun protection now in our Advice section.
Can I also get a sunburn in the shade or in the water?
Unfortunately, yes. Due to the scattering and reflection of light, harmful UV rays can reach you even in shady spots (e.g., under a parasol) or on a cloudy day. Therefore, you should also protect yourself adequately from the sun in the shade and definitely use a suitable sunscreen. A small consolation: You can still tan in the shade – the skin tans more slowly but more evenly and gently than in intense sunlight! The same applies when having fun in the water: The risk of sunburn is even higher in the water because the water surface reflects the sun’s rays. Additionally, the water cools the skin, so you usually only notice the sun when it’s already too late. For safe fun in the water, you should use water-resistant sunscreen products and reapply regularly to maintain protection. Our tip: You can find more helpful advice for responsible sun care in our Advice section.
Can I skip the usual sunscreen after using self-tanner?
No, definitely not. The lavera self-tanners do not provide protection against UV rays.
Why don’t lavera self-tanners tan as intensely as conventional products?
We also rely on the power of nature in our self-tanners. Our active ingredient "heroes" in the "summer tan from the tube" are DHA (dihydroxyacetone, a sugar molecule derived from rapeseed) and erythrulose (derived from sugar). These two natural self-tanning agents react with the amino acids in your outermost skin layer, producing brown pigments called melanoidins, which create a natural tan. They work on the surface of your skin and do not penetrate the deeper layers. We love a natural and even tan. Therefore, we use these natural self-tanning agents in our products only in low concentrations. Is the intensity of your tan not as pronounced as you expected? There can be several reasons. Your skin tanning with our self-tanners depends on your individual skin type and skin condition – so the tan tone varies slightly from person to person. It may be that your skin only reacts to a limited extent to the natural tanning agents. Proper storage of the product is also important. If your lavera self-tanner has been exposed to the sun, the active ingredient DHA can break down, reducing the tanning effect of your lavera self-tanner. For an even tan, we recommend applying the tube 1 to 2 times per week. The more often you apply the lavera self-tanner, the more intense your skin tone will become. We recommend always applying our self-tanners to clean skin. Our tip: To enjoy our natural self-tanners for a long time, we suggest removing any cream residue from the tube cap after each use.
Does the self-tanner stain my clothes?
Contact with textiles should be avoided as stains are possible. You should wait to put on your clothes until the lavera self-tanning lotion has been completely absorbed.
Does the skin take on an unnatural color when using self-tanning products?
The natural tan that can be achieved with the lavera Natural Beauty self-tanning product is not comparable to products from the traditional cosmetics sector – intentionally not. The carefully balanced natural composition gives your skin an even and naturally beautiful tan.
How do I prevent my skin from becoming patchy after using the lavera self-tanner?
Natural self-tanning agents based on wheat and sugar (DHA and erythrulose) are used in lavera self-tanners. These react with the amino acids in the outermost layer of the skin, causing it to change color.
Basically, the more even your skin tone is, the more uniform the tanning effect will be. However, sometimes the skin can tone unevenly because our skin is not always perfectly even.
For a beautiful, even result, you should keep the following points in mind:
- Clean your skin well before application. A gentle exfoliation is also helpful, as it can remove old skin flakes and ensure an even skin texture.
- Make sure to blend the self-tanner well at the hairline, eyebrows, edges of the face, and towards the décolleté. This helps avoid unsightly lines.
- Apply sparingly around joints and feet to avoid discoloration.
- When applying to arms and legs, it is advisable to lightly spread the product over these critical areas. You can also use a cosmetic tissue for this.
- Use only a small amount and distribute it on your skin in circular motions.
- Make sure to wash your hands and nails thoroughly after application.
Miscellaneous
Which lavera products are vegan?
In our online shop, we have listed all vegan lavera products for you. From there, you can quickly and easily discover them and add them directly to your shopping cart.
We want to create Natural Beauty that is sustainably effective. To meet this claim and offer you the best possible care solutions, we also use non-vegan ingredients in selected lavera products. This concerns individual products from various areas of our range – including, for example, some colour cosmetics products (e.g., lip styling products, blush, or eyeshadow), but also some care and body products.
Examples of non-vegan ingredients in lavera Natural Beauty are beeswax, lanolin, carmine, or pearl extract. They provide natural coloring, skin protection, or the desired care effect. In cooperation with our suppliers, alternatives to non-vegan ingredients are continuously being tested.
Did you know? We decided back in 2004 to use, alongside the label for certified Natural Beauty, the Vegan Trademark from the UK-based Vegan Society. The symbol indicates that no animal ingredients, but plant-based renewable raw materials are used in the product. Every product that meets the Vegan Society's requirements is allowed to carry the Vegan symbol. Today, the majority of lavera Natural Beauty products are vegan.
How can I tell how long my lavera product is good for?
The so-called "Period After Opening" (PAO) indicates how long you should use your lavera product after opening it. You can recognize this type of information by the small printed jar symbol, which shows a number (e.g., 6, 12, or 24). This number indicates how many months after opening you can use the product without any concerns. For example, our colour cosmetics products are marked with this information.
Quick tip: Simply write the month you opened your lavera product next to the small jar symbol with a thin, waterproof pen. This way, you always have the shelf life clearly in view and can better estimate how long it will take to use it up.
Some lavera products give you a very precise indication of their shelf life. For these products, we have printed a best-before date (BBD) on the packaging. The BBD shows you the date by which the product should ideally be used up while unopened. A small hourglass symbol indicates where you can find the BBD on the product. Look for the embossing, e.g., 03/2021 (month/year). Here you can find the information for some of our packaging types:
- Tubes: At the upper edge of the tube (tube seam)
- Jars: At the edge of the label or under the jar
- Pump dispensers: Under the product or on the seal label (e.g., with lavera make-ups)
- Folding boxes: Bottom side
Quick tip: Regularly check the shelf life of your beauty products. And if you’re already in cleaning mode, you should read our magazine article "Clean your routine." There, we reveal why chaos in the bathroom can disrupt your daily beauty routine.
Does lavera Natural Beauty also offer gluten-free products?
Do you suffer from gluten intolerance and want to avoid it in your daily skincare routine? lavera Natural Beauty offers you numerous gluten-free products for wheat-free natural beauty care, for example with our lip balms and lip styling products. Did you know? An ingredient in a cosmetic product is not the same as an ingredient consumed as food by the human body. Some lavera Natural Beauty products do contain ingredients derived from wheat, such as hydrolyzed wheat flour, organic wheat germ oil, or organic wheat extracts. However, since these wheat-containing ingredients have been processed, the content of the protein that many consumers react to with intolerance in food is relatively low. In our online shop, we have listed all gluten-free lavera products for you. From there, you can quickly and easily discover them and add them directly to your shopping cart.
What does pH value mean?
Share details about your shipping policies, item returns, or customer service.
What is the pH value of the lavera products?
Almost all lavera products are adapted to the natural pH value of the skin. Products with this pH value are skin-friendly and correspond to the value of the important hydro-lipid mantle (also called the "acid mantle"). In healthy skin, the acid mantle is generally slightly acidic. Did you know? The pH value of healthy skin varies between men and women as well as on different parts of the body – the respective season or even time of day can also influence the pH value, which ranges from 4.0 to 6.5. Generally, a value of 4.1-5.8 is considered pH-neutral for the skin. The acid mantle is formed from sebum, sweat, and horny cells. Due to its slightly acidic pH value, it can repel foreign germs and protect the skin from drying out. The acidity level is indicated, as with all aqueous solutions, in the form of the pH value. The scale ranges from pH 0 for strongly acidic solutions to 14 for strongly alkaline (basic) lyes.

How sustainable are the packaging of lavera deodorants?
We have set ourselves the goal of using renewable raw materials and environmentally friendly processes for our packaging as well. The bottles and caps of our deodorant roll-ons Natural & strong, Natural & Refresh, Natural & sensitive, Natural & invisible, and Natural & mild contain 96% recycled content. The jar of the lavera deodorant cream even consists of 100% recycled plastic. Did you know? The production of recycled plastic uses so-called "post-consumer plastic," which includes packaging, films, storage containers, and plastic bags such as old milk, juice, and water bottles that have already served their purpose.
Does lavera also offer fragrance-free products?
Are you looking for skincare without fragrances? At lavera, you will find several product lines that are formulated fragrance-free:
lavera Neutral
The lavera Neutral skincare series was developed for the special needs of very dry and sensitive skin. The medical skincare products deliberately do not use essential oils, which can cause allergies or intolerances in some people. The lavera Neutral formulas without fragrance and preservatives (according to EU cosmetics regulation) are therefore also suitable for people with neurodermatitis and allergies. With lavera Neutral products, dry and sensitive skin is gently cleansed or cared for, skin irritations are alleviated, or the skin is protected from drying out.

basis sensitive
Also available without fragrances are the basis sensitive Soothing Moisturizing Cream, the Soothing Night Cream, and the Soothing Cleansing Foam – perfect for sensitive skin that needs special care.
Baby & Children
Our baby and children’s products are of course also fragrance-free – for the delicate and sensitive skin of the little ones.
Little tip: If you have very dry and sensitive skin, you should be very gentle with your daily skincare routine. We reveal how to best care for your skin in our Advice section.
What causes the skin to react with irritation when switching to natural cosmetics?
When switching skincare products, temporary skin irritations can occur. Even when switching to Natural Beauty and the associated regeneration process, your skin needs time. The skin first has to recover from the synthetic substances and be rebuilt. Masks with healing clay and facial steam baths can help here. The skin renews itself every 28 days, so you should wait for this time.
What is special about the new Hydro Refresh eye roll-on?
The fragrance-free Hydro Refresh eye roll-on with organic algae and natural hyaluronic acids noticeably refreshes your skin and provides it with intensive moisture. The applicator with a metal ball makes application easier, cools your skin, and helps reduce puffiness. This makes the Hydro Refresh eye roll-on the perfect recommendation for you if you want to gently refresh your eye area but find a creamy eye care product too rich.
How do I best cleanse my skin in winter?
In autumn, it’s time to be a bit more careful with your daily skin cleansing. The reason: During the cold season, the skin is already stressed by dry heating air and other external factors, quickly losing valuable moisture. Winter-stressed skin can therefore react much more sensitively to cleansing agents. In the cold season, a particularly gentle cleansing milk and re-fatting wash preparations like cream showers or shower oils are the better choice. They cleanse gently and leave a nourishing film on dry skin. Wash products with a skin-neutral pH value of 5.5 are well suited. Shower gels with mild, natural sugar surfactants that don’t dry out your skin are also a good alternative to synthetic surfactants. The finely balanced active ingredient compositions with added moisturizers, as offered by lavera Natural Beauty, are the ideal natural care solution even in the cold season. Our tip: Adjust your shower routine to the season! In autumn and winter, be careful not to wash your skin with water that’s too hot. Water that’s too warm strips your skin of valuable fats and stresses the skin’s protective barrier. Lukewarm water around 35° Celsius is ideal, as it opens your pores without drying out your skin.
