Organic Apple – The Fruit from Paradise

In ancient times, the aromatic fruit reached Southern and Eastern Europe via various trade routes and became increasingly popular due to its health benefits. The name does not do it justice: "apple" originally comes from the Latin word "Malus," which corresponds to the German word for "bad, evil, or wicked." Background: In the biblical creation story, the tempting fruit famously became the downfall of Adam and Eve, as the apple brought about the original sin and thus the expulsion of mankind from paradise. The native culinary apple with the Latin name "Malus domestica" belongs to the pome fruit family and grows on trees or shrubs up to 10 meters high. Depending on the variety, apple trees produce small pink-white blossoms between April and June, which surround the small light green fruit leaves. A blooming apple tree is a joy of our native nature and brings pure summer vibes and good mood on the first warm early summer days! The fruits ripen in summer and are ready for harvest from September. With apples, we can enjoy the regionality of this fruit: due to the wide variety of types and the associated different harvest times, different regional varieties are available for many months. Apples can be stored particularly well (preferably cool); thanks to this long shelf life, we can enjoy the local fruits well into spring – preferably in organic quality.
