Castor oil is the valuable oil of the miracle tree, also known as the Christ's palm. Through gentle cold pressing of the peeled seeds, a very rich, fatty oil is produced. Faster, higher, further – The miracle tree owes its name to its rapid growth. After just three months, a three-meter tall, tree-like plant has grown from the seed, which is actually not a tree but more of a shrub. In tropical regions, it can even grow up to twelve meters tall. The spiky flowers contain three bean-sized seeds, which are about half made up of castor oil.

In ancient Egyptian and Indian civilizations, the miracle tree was mainly cultivated for oil extraction. It is thanks to the Arabs that the seeds became available in European pharmacies from the 16th century onwards. The increased demand led, among other things, to the miracle tree becoming known as a medicinal plant with its castor oil in the 18th century.
