Bellis Perennis: Delicate Appearance, Robust Nature

The daisy is more than just a beautiful flower in meadows and along paths. Daisies are persistent, robust, and winter-hardy. And their beauty lasts as well: from March to November, that is most of the year, the daisy delights us with its bright white bloom. This is also revealed by its botanical name “Bellis perennis": Bellis (bellus) means “beautiful” and perennis means per = through, annis = year. In common language, the daisy is also known by the names Gänseliese, Margritli, or Tausendschön. The plant turns its head toward the sun and closes its flower head at night.

Widespread natural beauty

Daisies are native to Europe and even to temperate regions of Asia. They grow in sunny locations and belong to the Asteraceae family (daisy family). The flower with the small white petals is commonly found in meadows, along paths, and on lawns.

Gentle skin soothing

The daisy extract is packed with benefits! It contains valuable ingredients such as saponins, mucilages, bitter substances, flavonoids, and essential oil. These ingredients have a positive effect on (skin) health. In fact, the daisy was named Medicinal Plant of the Year in 2017. The extract used by lavera has a soothing effect, can support skin regeneration, and reduce skin irritations. Additionally, the daisy is said to have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, cleansing, and antioxidant properties.
