Superfruit and naturally beautiful care partner – Organic cranberry is the perfect plant ingredient, especially for the care of demanding skin. In some lavera facial and body care products, we use high-quality extracts of this little "miracle berry" for natural skin care.
The cranberry is also called "large-fruited mossberry" in this country and belongs to the genus of blueberries. Most cranberry cultivation takes place in its native North America. In nature, the plants are found in acidic raised bog areas, which the little power berry particularly likes because of the swampy soils. Cranberries grow on small shrubs that only reach 30 cm in height.
After the flowering period from May, the plants develop small fruits that ripen throughout the summer until they are harvested as juicy fruits from mid-September to early November during the "Indian Summer." Then, the approximately 15 mm small berries celebrate a wild "pool party": During the so-called "wet harvest," the extensive cranberry fields are flooded with collected rainwater. Using special harvesting machines, the water mass is moved until the ripe fruits detach from the bushes. Thanks to their four air chambers, cranberries float on the water surface. They are then suctioned, fished out, or picked with the help of harvesting machines and further processed. In the so-called "bouncing test," the cranberries must then prove their worth: Only those that can bounce about 10 cm high seven times deserve to move on to the next round. Quite athletic, this little power berry!
More than 300 years of experience: The cranberry has a long tradition as a miracle berry. The natural healing power of the cranberry was already appreciated by the Native Americans, who mainly used the juice of the berry as a wound remedy. Compresses with cranberry juice healed, among other things, dangerous arrow wounds. The deep red cranberry tone was already a trend back then: the natural dye was used to color clothing, skin, and hair.
Their antioxidant, antibacterial effect is due to the high content of secondary plant compounds (polyphenols and anthocyanins). lavera Natural Beauty uses this power fruit for natural skin care: cranberries are rich in antioxidants and can help your body protect itself against free radicals.
