The peach tree belongs to the rose family and is mainly found in the Mediterranean region, Israel, South Africa, as well as in North and South America. It originates from China, where the shrub-like tree was already cultivated around 3000 BC. Thanks to the ancient Romans, the peach tree finally came to Europe around 100 AD. It can grow up to 8 meters tall and produces round, red-yellow stone fruits after flowering – the peaches, loved for their aromatic-sweet flavor.
