Applying mascara without clumping? It’s possible! The right technique is key to achieving perfect lashes. We’ll show you how to apply your mascara flawlessly!
Apply mascara – without clumping
Hold the brush horizontally and move it from the roots to the tips in a zigzag motion from side to side.
Make sure to place the brush very close to the lash line and also color the skin between the hairs – this visually creates even more volume! Repeat as needed until the desired look is achieved.
How to Apply Mascara Correctly: The Insider Tips
Shape tip: Eyelash curler
An eyelash curler shapes your lashes in seconds and creates a dreamy curl. Maybe you have already discovered heated eyelash curlers? They are said to provide a quick and long-lasting curl through the heat.
For most eyelash curlers, the classic rule applies: curl first, then apply mascara! Otherwise, individual lashes could break or fall out. Remember to regularly clean the small rubber or silicone pads of your eyelash curler and replace them if they become porous or worn out.
Makeup tip for better hold
For good hold, your lashes should be dry and clean. Make sure right before applying the mascara that there are no makeup residues, concealer, or moisturizer on your lashes. These can negatively affect the staying power or cause the mascara to smudge.
1. Powder Tip
To prevent your mascara smudges from "ruining" your entire look and ending up under your eyes, you should apply some loose powder roughly under your eyes before applying mascara. This works especially well with a small cosmetic sponge.
2. Powder Tip: Volume and Length for Short, Thin Eyelashes
For shorter, thin lashes, it is worth applying some powder to the lashes before mascara.
For more length, first apply a layer of mascara to the tips of the lashes, let it dry, and then coat the lashes with a second layer in zigzag motions from the roots to the tips. The double coating of the tips lengthens your lashes and adds volume without weighing them down.
Ink tip
If too much mascara sticks to the brush when you pull it out, wipe the excess mascara onto a tissue.
Under no circumstances should you wipe the brush on the upper edge. This can cause uneven application and lead to dried mascara residue on the bottle.
Tip for fuller lashes
If you want to apply several layers of mascara, you should wait briefly after the first application and let the mascara dry before applying the next layer. This prevents clumping.
Protect your favorite mascara
To keep the texture of your mascara smooth and pleasant for as long as possible, you should gently twist the brush inside the bottle before removing it instead of pumping it multiple times. Pumping introduces unnecessary air into the bottle, which can dry out your mascara.
Pro tip: Mascara, switch it up!
You should replace your mascara at least every six months. Over time, bacteria can get into the bottle. Additionally, dried-out mascara is not good for your lashes.
The dry texture can strain and unnecessarily stress the delicate hairs. You can easily clean dried mascara residue from your brush under a stream of hot water.
Insider tip: Definition tools
A good eyelash comb is always worth it! This classic tool can quickly separate clumped lashes.
No eyelash comb on hand? No problem! Thoroughly wash an old mascara brush and use it to comb your lashes. Just as effective and more environmentally friendly!
Important: Wash your eyelash comb or repurposed mascara brush thoroughly with warm water after each use, otherwise mascara residue will stick to the bristles.
Styling tip: Natural brown tones
If you tend to have lighter skin and hair types, deep black mascara can quickly look unnatural for everyday use. So it's better to opt for gentle brown tones. The contrast between the lashes and the rest of your complexion is then less pronounced and automatically looks more natural.
You can of course still use the volume and hold tricks and create naturally full lashes for yourself.
Removing mascara – here’s how to do it
With a gentle makeup remover, e.g. with micellar technology, you can easily and gently remove your lavera mascara. The 2-phase product consists of an oil and water phase. The refreshing and moisturizing formula is also suitable for sensitive skin.
Eyelash care tip
Even an elaborate eye makeup doesn’t work if the lashes are very short and even brittle. So treat them to a little care several times a week!
A nourishing serum regenerates and strengthens your lashes. The high-quality ingredients pamper your hairs from root to tip and provide them with lasting care.
Applied on mascara-free days or in the evening before going to bed, the serum has enough time to take effect. This perfectly prepares your lashes for the next big appearance!
