Hanover, 07/04/2024 - Yesterday, the FRIENDS AT THE BULT and the LAVERA THOMAS HAASE FOUNDATION received an exclusive tour of the new premises of the children's hospital. Sabine Kästner (PR manager), representing the foundation, was impressed by the unique wall design, made possible by a generous donation of 10,000 euros from the foundation on the occasion of Thomas Haase's 70th birthday.
Complex circuit diagrams of cables or ventilation shafts on the walls reflect the modernity and thoughtful planning of the renovations and new constructions, which will be completed this year. If everything goes according to plan, an official preview event will take place at the end of September. The neonatal unit with intensive care beds for at least 18 small patients, as well as four new operating rooms, can begin operation later this year.
A 5-star experience for little patients
During the tour of the new ward, it quickly becomes clear that every detail has been lovingly and service-oriented designed. Ms. Niedenführ, board advisor, explains: “It was important to us to involve all departments in the design and to implement the approved color concept of the Bult ‘Kunterbunt’ in the new ward as well. We visited around 10 clinics across Europe and learned from their experiences. The final solution is the result of everyone’s input. Participation was very important for every area, starting with the color design in the operating room and on the walls, and extending to the arrangement of the medical equipment.”
Efficiency and state-of-the-art medical technology
The new ward is characterized by efficiency, state-of-the-art medical technology, digital patient records, and energy-efficient ventilation and heating elements. Every detail was carefully planned, from the height of the beds for women after a cesarean section to the arrangement of the drawer units. Waste reduction and the design of rooms specifically for children requiring intensive care were also taken into account.
Creative wall art for a pleasant atmosphere
Ms. Niedenführ continues: “The first drafts for the wall pictures were sketched by employees on the wall after their shifts. The options were space, farm, jungle, and beach. In the end, we decided on beach and jungle. Farm is mainly interesting only for small children, space was not possible because the blue light concept of the wall and lamp makes the skin look gray and thus distorts the complexion.” Instead of classic pictures, now sloth Dr. Charly Schlummer, elephant Dr. Tano Trompete, crab Dr. Gino Greifer, and many hiking and helper mice smile from the walls and invite the children to spend time with them. Lovingly designed lamp motifs also stimulate the imagination.
A contribution to a pleasant hospital stay
Prof. Fleisch, Chairman of the LAVERA THOMAS HAASE FOUNDATION, emphasizes: “We are pleased that through the donation on the occasion of Thomas Haase’s birthday, we can help create an atmosphere in the hospital that makes the stay as pleasant as possible. Because this is just as important as the medical equipment and care, which are costly and not eligible for funding. Any family can quickly find themselves in a situation that requires a hospital stay – and that should be as comfortable as possible. With such a state-of-the-art and lovingly designed children’s ward, you can hardly wait for it to be put into operation.”
