Hanover, 01.11.2022 - The top performers of the German Sustainability Award 2023 in the "Companies" competition category have been announced. Natural Beauty manufacturer Laverana is among the "Most Sustainable in the German Economy" (as in the previous year) and was able to prevail against a field of around 1,200 applicants – this year in the transformation field of resources.
At the 15th German Sustainability Award, exemplary ecological and social achievements of companies were honored, especially those investing in sustainability even in difficult times, thus securing the future. The jury selected Natural Beauty manufacturer Laverana for the top tier of the prestigious competition and named it a "Finalist DNP 2023".
In the 35th anniversary year of the medium-sized company from the Hanover region, Laverana's outstanding sustainable commitment was recognized, which aims to save resources:
• The Natural Beauty manufacturer has been producing certified Natural Beauty products for 35 years (under the brand name lavera Natural Beauty).
• Laverana has been committed to climate and environmental protection for years and began in 2019 to make the unavoidable CO2 emissions generated climate neutral*.
• An integrated management system monitors and reduces resource consumption and manages the systems for energy, waste and environment, occupational health and safety, as well as quality assurance.
• With the new construction of the production and logistics center in Bantorf, Laverana has not only made the largest investment in the company's history. The industrial building, constructed according to the latest standards, saves CO2 emissions annually just through its design.
• In 2022, a year presenting special challenges due to the Ukraine war, Laverana is expanding the building with its first photovoltaic system at the Bantorf site, with more planned. This already allows a large share of the energy demand to be self-generated.
• In addition, Laverana has adopted eight additional sustainability goals, setting new standards in sustainability in the areas of forest and environmental protection, waste recycling rates, sustainable packaging, and energy efficiency.
* By purchasing emission reduction certificates, the unavoidable CO2 emissions are offset in approved projects with the ClimatePartner ID No. 12310-1610-1001 with a funding amount, exactly balancing the CO2 emissions generated annually by the company.
