Hanover, May 2021 - Sustainability and a conscious approach to nature have always been very important to lavera Natural Beauty. That’s why we are now also committed to the forests in Germany and plan to plant 30,000 trees this year together with the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald and ClimatePartner.
With the purchase of the new solid products, 10 cents per product sold will go to the lavera forest project.
The German forest is in trouble
The latest results of the 2020 Forest Condition Survey show: the German forest is struggling. Due to heatwaves, storms, and pests like the bark beetle, 277,000 hectares of forest have died, which corresponds to an area about three times the size of Rügen (Source: Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Results of the Forest Condition Survey). Spruce forests are particularly affected, heavily impacted by the bark beetle infestation, as well as beech forests, which are weakened by water shortages and storms.
Climate protection through regional reforestation
In cooperation with ClimatePartner and the German Forest Protection Association, lavera Natural Beauty has launched a reforestation project and will now strengthen forests through appropriate planting. Existing forest areas are carefully analyzed by experts and planted with suitable trees that can adapt to climate change and increased pest infestation. This not only strengthens the regional ecosystem but also secures vital habitats for animals. The whole initiative is financed by a fixed contribution that will now be allocated to the lavera forest project from the sales of the three new solid shower gels and three new solid shampoos. More products will follow. This campaign applies to product sales in Germany and Austria.
