Why lavera Naturkosmetik Doesn’t Offer Waterproof Mascara
You may have noticed while browsing our shop that we don’t offer a waterproof natural mascara. Here’s why: it’s true that waterproof mascara “scores points” when it comes to longevity – some of these formulas can last up to 24 hours and withstand moisture, tears, and sweat. To achieve this, conventional waterproof mascaras often contain ingredients such as film formers (e.g. acrylates, methacrylates, silicone resins), waxes (e.g. paraffin wax), polymers (e.g. polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyvinyl alcohol), and silicone oils (e.g. dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane). These form a water-repellent layer on the lashes and ensure long-lasting adhesion.
However, the use of these synthetic ingredients is not permitted in certified natural cosmetics – such as those from lavera.
